Body, Emotions, and Language

These three facets of ourselves – body, emotions, and language – create who we are and how we act in the world. They underlie our behaviors and habits in ways that are transparent to us, meaning we don’t see or notice how we affect others or when our actions derail us. When we struggle to make positive changes in our lives it can feel like the things that are holding us back are somehow “hardwired” within us. In a sense, they are. Coaching reveals these connections – this “wiring”— so that we can purposefully create new practices that nurture the behaviors and habits needed to help us achieve the things we really care about.

Body: The physical body has a great capacity for wisdom and communication. It subconsciously gives off signals that support or undermine what we say with words. This “body language” speaks to others as well as ourselves even when we’re not aware of it.

Emotions: Emotions are a domain for learning, not merely something to control or manage. We don’t need to be controlled by emotions either. Our emotions and underlying moods greatly affect others, usually on a subconscious level.

Language: What we say to and about ourselves creates our future. Likewise, how we speak and listen to others shapes our future relationship possibilities. As creatures of language, what we say and believe can close or open doors.

As we develop an awareness of who we are as observers, we begin to see new possibilities, new directions, and new actions. A new future.
